ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY
The Garden Party was held at the home of John & Vi Tack on 27 July. About 70 guests enjoyed “A Festival of Cakes”, with competitions, tombola, raffle, books and plant stalls.
A profit of approximately £380 was made
Thanks are sent to all who came to visit us and to all our members for their delicious cakes that were served and for the hard work in the preparation for the day
40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Former Presidents and members joined with regulars for a trip down memory lane at the May meeting. As well as looking through records and mementos of events over the past 40 years they were entertained with a talk on crested china complete with a display of many items bearing the Southend crest. The evening was rounded off with a celebratory drink and refreshments including a cake decorated to reflect traditional activities associated with The WI. Former President, Jan Murray, cut the cake and the President, Margaret Cathie. proposed the birthday toast
